This is not your mother’s career fair…  Are you sick of traditional college and career fairs that tell you ‘what you’re doing wrong’ and “what you should do with your life” and leave you feeling anxious about your future? College fairs might help you learn a bit about different colleges\, but since they are usually hosted by admissions counselors\, you really only get one perspective. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a chance to speak to young alumni and professors directly so that you can really find out if a school is a good fit for you?  Not Your Mother’s Career Fair is a chance to truly learn about career fields that best fit with your personality and interests. Participants will have the opportunity to have informal\, honest conversations with colleges and universities and chat with alumni who can tell you about their personal experiences. Career professionals and companies will be there to offer insight about pursuing your career goals in different fields\, including science\, hospitality\, technology\, health\, and more. In particular\, participants will have the chance to: Take a career assessment and learn about professions that are aligned with their interests Participate in hands-on career workshops led by industry professionals Meet with colleges and universities and learn how to write personal statements and essays for admission applications. Learn how to create an eye-catching resume and stand out during the interview process Learn how to prepare and participate in an interview Learn about internships and summer job opportunities The Career Fair portion of the day will run from 8:30AM – 4:00PM. Those who sign up to attend both the career fair and the overnight will be welcome to join us from 4:00PM – 8:00PM for a pool party (weather permitting) and games at the Holiday Inn Orlando Suites Water Park. At 8:30PM\, check-in for the overnight will begin. After a day of learning\, let’s have some fun! Starting at 8:30PM\, we will begin an evening of fun and celebration with 4D movies\, games\, a talent show\, dancing and more! Overnight activities include the following: Unlimited access to Batman Laser Maze $10 Arcade Card 4D theater movie and games $10 food and beverage voucher Midnight Talent Show Movies\, dancing and games + more!  This sounds awesome\, where do I sign up!? We strongly encourage you to sign up for the full package of both the career fair and the overnight. Spaces are limited and this is a unique opportunity that shouldn’t be missed! DESCRIPTION:Participate in Girl Scout Day at I-Drive 360 with this special program for Seniors and Ambassadors at the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye.  All participants that sign up will enjoy: Access to ride the Coca-Cola Eye. The iconic 400-foot tall observation wheel\, at the heart of the I-Drive 360 entertainment complex\, provides breathtaking views of Central Florida in all directions\, with sights of downtown Orlando’s skyline\, nearby theme parks\, lakes and lush landscape Learn about the science behind the fun! Participate in an education program focused on the physics\, engineering and technology that make the Orlando Eye run smoothly and safely Take a behind the scenes tour to see the inner workings of the Orlando Eye and speak directly with engineers who work there. The program begins promptly at 10:30 AM. Please arrive early to check in.  The cost to participate is $25 per person. DESCRIPTION:Counselor in Training  – Attend this training if you are  currently in 9th through 12th grade   and have a desire to mentor and work with younger girls in a camp/outdoor environment. This training is designed to help you learn basic leadership skills and techniques that you will be able to apply in a summer camp setting. Once you have completed this training you will need to work with girls over 1 camp session to receive your official Counselor in Training award. DESCRIPTION:Come and spend time during Girl Scout Birthday weekend learning about diversity and the many different types of faiths that are part of our communities. Engage with guest speakers and spiritual leaders\, and take a 10 Commandment Hike through our Nature Trail. You will also have the opportunity to participate in Girl Scout Traditions and earn requirements towards your specific Religious Awards (not included). Please keep in mind that participants will earn a fun patch and the My Promise\, My Faith Pin for the grade they are currently in. Requirements for Religious Awards will need to be completed according to the specific award they are earning. Display tables will be available to view books and purchase some program supplies. Fee includes: program\, patch\, pin & pizza lunch. Registered Adults are required to meet the adult/girl ratio. DESCRIPTION:The American Numismatic Association Coin Show staff is presenting a “Fun With Money Patch” workshop in conjunction with the coin show in Orlando!   • Take a closer look at the coins and paper money we use every day • Earn the Fun with Money Patch developed by the American Numismatic Association in cooperation with Girl Scouts of Colorado • Girl Scouts and their parents admitted free BEFORE THE WORKSHOP … 1. Visit the American Numismatic Association (ANA) website at www.money.org. Read the requirements for the Fun with Moneypatch by going to “Discover\,” then select “Young Numismatists” and “Scouts.” Continue in the same dropdown menu to learn more about the ANA’s Edward C. Rochette Money Museum\, Dwight N. Manley Numismatic Library and programs for young collectors. Find out what you can see and do at the ANA’s National Money Show® in Orlando at  www.NationalMoneyShow.com. 2. Draw a design for a new $1 coin on an 81?2 x11-inch sheet of paper and bring it to the workshop (Requirement #1). Keep your design simple and clear; do not make it cluttered. You must include the following inscriptions: Obverse (“heads” side): Year\, LIBERTY\, and IN GOD WE TRUST Reverse (“tails” side): UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR AT THE WORKSHOP … Everyone will learn a lot about coins and currency. If you have a collection\, please leave it at home so it will not be lost. Girl Scouts will complete the patch requirements during the workshop. DESCRIPTION:Did you know that the average person in the United States uses approximately 69 gallons of water per day for normal daily activities such as brushing teeth\, taking showers\, cleaning dishes and flushing the toilet? What do you think happens to all of that water? Here in Central Florida\, water flows down the drain where it then collects with other people’s waste and travels across the city’s network of sewers\, which consists of over 800 miles of sewer line\, to find its way to one of three water reclamation facilities in the City of Orlando. Its hard work making sure all of that dirty water can make its way through all of the sewer lines in the city without getting blocked up somewhere. Every day in Orlando\, over 40 million gallons of sewer water is treated and cleaned. This process allows us to actually be able to use the water again for things like irrigation and to replenish the Floridan aquifer\, which is the major source of drinking water for Central Florida! Come join us at one of Orlando’s wastewater treatment plants to learn about the process of treating and recycling water. Guests will get a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility\, conduct experiments in the Learning Center\, and learn about the cycle of water use in Florida.

As the Saturday\, February 25th program is sold out\, the City of Orlando has agreed to host another program for us on February 22nd\, which is a Wednesday early-dismissal day for Orange County. After you complete your magical tour stick around for a chocolate class where you will do 3 different activities including  how to dip an item in chocolate… how to mold an item in chocolate\,  and then they would make a chocolate pizza! This family owned and operated business brings history\, modern technology\, imagination and even environmental awareness together to a one-of-a-kind experience that will inspire and amaze chocoholics of all ages. Space is limited so please register only those adults necessary to meet girl to adult ratio guidelines. Please check in at 2:45pm for your 3:00pm tour. Chocolate Kingdom patches are available for purchase through Girl Scouts of Citrus Council Shop for $1.50 each.
