This is not your mother’s career fair…  Are you sick of traditional college and career fairs that tell you ‘what you’re doing wrong’ and “what you should do with your life” and leave you feeling anxious about your future? College fairs might help you learn a bit about different colleges\, but since they are usually hosted by admissions counselors\, you really only get one perspective. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a chance to speak to young alumni and professors directly so that you can really find out if a school is a good fit for you?  Not Your Mother’s Career Fair is a chance to truly learn about career fields that best fit with your personality and interests. Participants will have the opportunity to have informal\, honest conversations with colleges and universities and chat with alumni who can tell you about their personal experiences. Career professionals and companies will be there to offer insight about pursuing your career goals in different fields\, including science\, hospitality\, technology\, health\, and more. In particular\, participants will have the chance to: Take a career assessment and learn about professions that are aligned with their interests Participate in hands-on career workshops led by industry professionals Meet with colleges and universities and learn how to write personal statements and essays for admission applications. Learn how to create an eye-catching resume and stand out during the interview process Learn how to prepare and participate in an interview Learn about internships and summer job opportunities The Career Fair portion of the day will run from 10:30AM – 4:30PM. Those who sign up to attend both the career fair and the overnight will be welcome to join us from 5:00PM – 8:00PM for a pool party (weather permitting) at the Holiday Inn Orlando Suites Water Park. At 8PM\, the overnight will begin. After a day of learning\, let’s have some fun! Starting at 8:00PM\, we will begin an evening of fun and celebration with 4D movies\, games\, a talent show\, dancing and more! Overnight activities include the following: Unlimited access to Batman Laser Maze $10 Arcade Card 4D theater movie and games $10 food and beverage voucher Midnight Talent Show Movies\, dancing and games + more!  This sounds awesome\, where do I sign up!? We strongly encourage you to sign up for the full package of both the career fair and the overnight. Spaces are limited and this is a unique opportunity that shouldn’t be missed! However\, if you would like to only register for the overnight\, or the career fair separately\, you may do so. The breakdown of the costs are below: Both the career fair and the overnight : $70 ($5 SAVINGS!) SUMMARY:Calling all Cadettes: Experience the art of wax sculpting at Madame Tussauds!
DESCRIPTION:Participate in Girl Scout Day at I-Drive 360 with this special program for Cadettes at Madame Tussauds!  All participants that sign up will enjoy: Access to Madame Tussauds\, the world’s most famous celebrity wax attraction. Shake hands with the president\, get on stage with your favorite pop star\, or get up close and personal with an A-lister and take the ultimate selfie.  Partcipation in a guided education workshop to learn about the art and history of Madame Tussauds and have the chance to speak with one of the studio artists that helps design the wax figures.  Opportunity to make your very own wax hand! After learning all about the process\, participants will be able to take a dip into the art of wax sculpture making and take home their very own wax hand creation.  The program begins promptly at 10:30 AM. Please arrive by 10:15AM to check in. The cost to participate is $32 and includes the wax hand. This program is for Cadettes and tagalongs that are the same age range as Cadettes. DESCRIPTION:Program Aide   – Attend this training if you are  currently in 6th through 8th grade and have completed and received your Leader in Action (LIA) award . This training is designed to help you learn basic leadership skills and techniques that you will be able to apply in a troop\, group or day camp setting. After you complete this training you will need to work with younger girls over 6 more additional sessions to receive your official Cadette Program Aide award. DESCRIPTION:Come and spend time during Girl Scout Birthday weekend learning about diversity and the many different types of faiths that are part of our communities. Engage with guest speakers and spiritual leaders\, and take a 10 Commandment Hike through our Nature Trail. You will also have the opportunity to participate in Girl Scout Traditions and earn requirements towards your specific Religious Awards (not included). Please keep in mind that participants will earn a fun patch and the My Promise\, My Faith Pin for the grade they are currently in. Requirements for Religious Awards will need to be completed according to the specific award they are earning. Display tables will be available to view books and purchase some program supplies. Visit the American Numismatic Association (ANA) website at www.money.org. Read the requirements for the Fun with Moneypatch by going to “Discover\,” then select “Young Numismatists” and “Scouts.” Continue in the same dropdown menu to learn more about the ANA’s Edward C. Rochette Money Museum\, Dwight N. Manley Numismatic Library and programs for young collectors. Find out what you can see and do at the ANA’s National Money Show® in Orlando at  www.NationalMoneyShow.com. 2. DESCRIPTION:Did you know that the average person in the United States uses approximately 69 gallons of water per day for normal daily activities such as brushing teeth\, taking showers\, cleaning dishes and flushing the toilet? What do you think happens to all of that water? Here in Central Florida\, water flows down the drain where it then collects with other people’s waste and travels across the city’s network of sewers\, which consists of over 800 miles of sewer line\, to find its way to one of three water reclamation facilities in the City of Orlando. Its hard work making sure all of that dirty water can make its way through all of the sewer lines in the city without getting blocked up somewhere. Every day in Orlando\, over 40 million gallons of sewer water is treated and cleaned. This process allows us to actually be able to use the water again for things like irrigation and to replenish the Floridan aquifer\, which is the major source of drinking water for Central Florida! Come join us at one of Orlando’s wastewater treatment plants to learn about the process of treating and recycling water. Guests will get a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility\, conduct experiments in the Learning Center\, and learn about the cycle of water use in Florida.
