SUMMARY:Volunteer Retreat Weekend 2017 "Fairy Tales Around the World"
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer Retreat Weekend is a fun and relaxing event for adult Girl Scout members.  You’ll have the opportunity to attend various workshops such as learning a craft to take back to your troops or finding hidden treasures using either clues or GSP coordinates.  You may even discover a hidden talent of story telling. This event is held at our beautiful 250 acre campground where participants will be sleeping in climate controlled cabins.  You can choose to attend for the entire weekend or come just for the day on Saturday.  Cost: $40 Will include registration and sessions for Saturday only $50 Will include registration and sessions for the entire weekend Attendance Options: Entire Weekend: Check in on Friday between 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. for an evening of fun before a full day of workshops on Saturday\, and a special workshop session on Sunday! Check out is at noon on Sunday. Saturday Only: Check in on Saturday at 7:00 a.m. and attend a full day of workshops before ending the day with dinner\, evening entertainment\, and a campfire (optional). DESCRIPTION:Calling all Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts! Come and spend time exploring the Barrier Island Center while participating in a hands on educational experience. Girls will learn about Sea Turtles and their natural habitats walk the beach looking for eggs\, trails and more! If you are lucky\, you may even see a real turtle! All adults and girls must register for the program. Please no tagalongs as space is limited. Everyone must have on closed toe shoes and bring a water bottle. SUMMARY:Outdoor Skills - Advanced Camping
DESCRIPTION:This level of camping is designed to have troops/groups camp together\, but having the girls use their outdoor skills independently.  In this  overnight training\, participants will learn how to cook using their mess kits\, solar cooking and other nifty cooking methods as well as additional skills including lashing\, orienteering\, and geocaching.  This training is for troops/groups desiring to advance their girls’ outdoor skills and is required for troops/groups to go primitive camping.   This training starts at 9:00 am on Saturday and ends at 12:00 pm on Sunday.   Participants must attend the entire time to be qualified.  Prerequisite:   Girl Scout Membership\, Eligible Background Check\, Girl Scouting 101\, and Outdoor Skills – Tent Camping.

DESCRIPTION:Come and spend time during Girl Scout Birthday weekend learning about diversity and the many different types of faiths that are part of our communities. Engage with guest speakers and spiritual leaders\, and take a 10 Commandment Hike through our Nature Trail. You will also have the opportunity to participate in Girl Scout Traditions and earn requirements towards your specific Religious Awards (not included). Please keep in mind that participants will earn a fun patch and the My Promise\, My Faith Pin for the grade they are currently in. Requirements for Religious Awards will need to be completed according to the specific award they are earning. Display tables will be available to view books and purchase some program supplies. DESCRIPTION:The American Numismatic Association Coin Show staff is presenting a “Fun With Money Patch” workshop in conjunction with the coin show in Orlando!   • Take a closer look at the coins and paper money we use every day • Earn the Fun with Money Patch developed by the American Numismatic Association in cooperation with Girl Scouts of Colorado • Girl Scouts and their parents admitted free BEFORE THE WORKSHOP … 1. Visit the American Numismatic Association (ANA) website at www.money.org. Read the requirements for the Fun with Moneypatch by going to “Discover\,” then select “Young Numismatists” and “Scouts.” Continue in the same dropdown menu to learn more about the ANA’s Edward C. Rochette Money Museum\, Dwight N. Manley Numismatic Library and programs for young collectors. Find out what you can see and do at the ANA’s National Money Show® in Orlando at  www.NationalMoneyShow.com. 2. Draw a design for a new $1 coin on an 81?2 x11-inch sheet of paper and bring it to the workshop (Requirement #1). Keep your design simple and clear; do not make it cluttered. You must include the following inscriptions: Obverse (“heads” side): Year\, LIBERTY\, and IN GOD WE TRUST Reverse (“tails” side): UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR AT THE WORKSHOP … Everyone will learn a lot about coins and currency. If you have a collection\, please leave it at home so it will not be lost. Girl Scouts will complete the patch requirements during the workshop. Parents and adult leaders are welcome and  encouraged to attend. DESCRIPTION:Calling all Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts! Come and spend time exploring the Barrier Island Center while participating in a hands on educational experience. Girls will learn about Sea Turtles and their natural habitats walk the beach looking for eggs\, trails and more! If you are lucky\, you may even see a real turtle! All adults and girls must register for the program. Please no tagalongs as space is limited. Everyone must have on closed toe shoes and bring a water bottle. SUMMARY:First Aid/CPR Training
DESCRIPTION:This training meets OSHA Guidelines for First Aid Programs. Basic First Aid will cover how to identify and deal with various medical emergencies. Some of the areas covered will be bleeding\, burns\, breaks and heat related emergencies. CPR/AED will cover adult\, child and infant CPR. Students will be instructed on how to operate and use an Automated External Defibrillator machine (AED) as well as learn how to handle choking situations. PREREQUISITE:  Girl Scout Membership\, Eligible Background Check and Girl Scouting 101.
